OVERVIEW
On the hottest days, air conditioning use is pushing Ontario's power
system to the max. Orangeville Hydro can help you save electricity by
limiting cooling during peak demand times as well as using the
thermostat throughout the year to save energy. Here is how it works;
peaksaver sends a message to your thermostat to ease up on your A/C by
a maximum of 2șC. You'll hardly notice a difference! It only lasts up
to four hours, only on the hottest days, and never on weekends or
holidays.
ELIGIBILITY
You are eligible for the peaksaver program if you are a residential
customers in Southern Ontario who has:
- Central air conditioning in the home or for businesses, your air
conditioners and electric water heaters are approximately the same
size as those used by residential customers and you either
- Own the home or building OR can provide us with your landlord’s written
consent authorizing us to install peaksaver in your home or place of
business, and likewise to install peaksaver on your electric water
heater; OR
- Your townhome has a separate central air conditioning unit;
Please note that Heat pump units are not compatible with the peaksaver
program nor are customers with a condo or apartment unit that is
contained in a larger building are not eligible.
