President’s Message

On behalf of Orangeville Hydro Limited I would like to thank you for visiting our website.

The electrical industry in Ontario continues to undergo change. Residential and commercial electricity consumers can choose their energy supplier. The outcome of provincial legislation creating a competitive environment has been confusing and threatening to both residential and business customers. Our friendly staff will be pleased to help you understand your choices.

It has always been our goal to provide reliable, affordable electricity to our customers. We feel strongly that these benefits should continue. Therefore we have and will continue to be a proactive agent of this change, assisting our customers to make sound choices about affordable rates and reliable service.

Bill 35 – the Energy Competition Act placed a number of new costs and charges onto distribution utilities. We have now moved from a not-for-profit environment to one that produces profit for our shareholders- the citizens of Orangeville. We will continue to update you, our customers through bill inserts and mailings about the changes and how it will affect you.

As your local electric utility, we do more than distribute electrical services. We’re an enterprise that employs people in our community. We’re a business located close to your home so that in the event of a power outage we can respond quickly. Our staff is active and involved in community service organizations and clubs as volunteers.

Electricity plays a critical role in our lives. That fact is evident by the recent ice storms in eastern Ontario, Quebec and right here in Dufferin County. In order for our community to continue to prosper an assured supply of reliable, competitively priced energy is necessary.

Orangeville Hydro Limited has taken a proactive role in preparing for the coming changes. We are looking for opportunities to better serve our community. Our utility has expert staff to serve our customers. We keep the best interests of our customers and our community in mind.
